How to Apply

Once you have satisfied all of our eligibility requirements, reviewed our guidelines and funding priorities, and checked our application deadlines, please complete and submit your application electronically HERE.  All applicants will need to create an account in our new online application portal. All applications must be submitted electronically and there is no longer any need to send hard copies to our office.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have received a grant from us in the past, you must submit a final report before a new grant proposal will be considered. Final Report link is here: final report. Please submit the final report to sburlingame@newalliancefoundation.org.

Your submitted grant application must include answers to the narrative questions, your budget pages, your board list, a copy of your IRS 501.c3 designation letter, and the top page of your most recently filed 990 form. Completed applications must be submitted electronically by 11:59pm on the application deadline date. Requests received after the application deadline will be deferred to the next review cycle. There will be no exceptions.

The Narrative Questions are here.

Organization Operating Budget or Specific Program Budget (Budget Sample Form Here) . If you are applying for General Operating Support, submit your operating budget for your last completed fiscal year. Please do not submit your audit. If you are applying for a Project/Program Grant, Sponsorship, or Capital Grant, include the current budget associated with the specific request. List your corporate and foundation funders individually by name, and whether funds are confirmed or pending (attach separate page, if needed). The budget form we have created for you can be used as a template or guideline to help you organize your budget. You may use your own format; as long as it is clear and easily understandable.

Board of Directors list. Please include names, professional affiliations, and length of service on board.

Copy of IRS Tax Determination Letter (501.c3). This is a copy of the letter you received from the IRS stating that your organization meets the requirements for Federal tax exempt status. You are eligible to apply to us 12 months from the date of this letter.

Top page of your last filed Form 990.

Given the large number of requests received throughout the year, only proposals that contain all the required material and supporting documents as listed above will be reviewed. Incomplete requests will not be considered.

The final decision on all grant proposals rests with the Board of Directors of the NewAlliance Foundation. The Board meets twice a year, in March and September, to determine grant awards. You will be notified by email, within a week of the board meeting, as to the status of your request.
